Empty Promises
It's easy to fall into temptation.
The enticing and alluring promises
It may be short lived but worth it,
To run away, to escape, to cope
With the chaos all around us.
All we can do is painfully suffer.
But the promises brings us silence
They make us relax and enjoy ourselves
Makes us numb to the world
Only for a while then an itch begins.
Taking those promises
Stops the world, stops the itch
But only until the promise is fulfilled
Then you take more promises.
Too much chaos, too much pain
Not enough relief, not enough promises
To help run away from this place.
Once the promises stop
The itch comes back
And living becomes unbearable again.
Taking much more than what they offered
These promises were lies but no one cared
Just to run away, just to feel relief
It was worth it all, but is it?
There will always be chaos.
There will always be pain.
There will always be relief.
There will always be promises.
But these promises are long term.
It takes dedication for these promises
We turn to those because they're easy
These are harder because we have to try
These are much more fulfilling than those
These don't take anything unlike those
These are actually solutions
While those are just temporary
